The grief journey

Individuals navigating the aftermath of a loss undergo a constant shifting process of grief. While the intensity of heartache varies for each person, there are common responses observed at different stages of grief.

In the initial phase, known as Early Grief, those who have experienced a loss may find themselves in a state of disbelief during the days and weeks immediately following the event. Some may be so overwhelmed by grief that they become numb to its impact. However, as the harsh reality of the loss sets in, the pain can become almost unbearable. Coping with emotions becomes challenging, and maintaining daily routines may seem like an insurmountable task. In this period, individuals may also start to withdraw from their family or social circle as they grapple with the weight of their emotions.

As time progresses, individuals experiencing grief may struggle with feelings of emptiness. A profound longing for what was lost might emerge, leading to a desperate yearning for its return. Consequently, they may find themselves consumed by the need to share their story of loss or speak the name of their departed loved one.

In the latter stages of the grieving process, your friend may begin to adapt to their altered reality, uncovering newfound strengths and opportunities that were previously unseen.

Gradually, their life begins to regain meaning, and they may even undergo personal growth, evolving into a redefined version of themselves.
